Internet advertising revenues in the US reached a record high of $21.2 billion in 2007, eclipsing revenues in 2006 - the previous record year - by 26 %, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) announced. Search, display, classifieds and lead generation all continued growing at a healthy rate, according to the report: The 4Q07 internet advertising revenues hit $5.9 billion - also a historic high for a single quarter, a 24% increase over the same period in 2006, according to the “2007 Internet Advertising Revenue Report.” The figures constituted the fourth consecutive year - and 13th consecutive quarter - of record results: Consumer advertising remained the largest category of internet advertising spending, at 55% of 2007 full-year revenues, up from 52% from the full year 2006: Online advertising remains concentrated, with the 10 leading ad-selling companies accounting for 69% of total revenues in the fourth quarter: Some 51% of 2007 revenues were priced on a performance basis, up from 47% reported for 2006: About the report (pdf): Conducted by the New Media Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Internet Advertising Revenue Report was launched in 1996 by the IAB, and aggregates data from all companies that report meaningful online advertising revenues. The survey includes data concerning online advertising revenues from Web sites, commercial online services, free email providers, and all other companies selling online advertising.
