The latest Nielsen Online data shows that newspaper sites experienced a year-on-year growth in unique users in August.
Politico.com surged by 156%, reaching 3.6 million uniques, and moved up from being No. 17 to No. 10 last month. The Washington Post's unique audience increased by 25% to 11.2 million, giving the site the No. 2 position.
Four news outlets experienced a decline in unique: Newsday (decreased by 2%), Atlanta Journal-Constitution (down by 29%), AZCentral.com (decreased by 28%), and Village Voice Media (declined by 27%).
